September is Suicide Awareness Month

September is Suicide Awareness Month, and we want to share what resources are available if you or someone you know is considering suicide, or if you’re concerned someone is at risk. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline “provides 24/7, free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for you or your loved ones, and best practices for professionals.” Call toll free: 1-800-273-TALK, or visit https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/.

Local crisis centers also can connect your loved one to services.

  • 2-1-1 /LIFE LINE is a 24/7 crisis/suicide intervention program that also offers information and referral services. Dial 2-1-1 or 1-877-FLNY2-1-1 (1-877-356-9211). They are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week (including holidays) and have Spanish-speaking professionals and telephone translation services available. Visit https://211lifeline.org/.
  • Rochester Community Mobile Crisis Team, a mobile psychiatric emergency department serving those in Monroe County who are experiencing a crisis in mental health. More information is available at http://www2.monroecounty.gov/mh-emergency-resources. Call Lifeline at (585) 275-5151.

Time for Flu Shots

With flu season starting as early as October, now’s the time to get your flu shot to make sure you’re protected. This year, flu shots are available for ages 18 and up on a walk-in basis at the Lifetime Health Pharmacies in the Perinton and Wilson Health Centers. We also will hold flu sessions at our Greece and Folsom Health Centers. See dates and locations here.

The vaccine is also available for all ages by appointment at your Lifetime Health office. For pediatric patients (under 18), please contact the doctor’s office for an appointment.

All Lifetime Health locations will use vaccines that are preservative free and have high dose for seniors available.
