We've enhanced our practices at our Wilson, Greece and Perinton pediatric offices to include our Healthy Steps program for newborns and their families.
About Healthy Steps
Healthy Stepssm is a national program featuring thoughtful, family-centered approach to newborn care. Initially developed at Boston University's School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, the program is now in place at two dozen pediatric and family practices across the country. Lifetime Health Medical Group and Lifetime Care are the only providers in Greater Rochester offering Healthy Steps.
Getting Started
When you choose Lifetime Health Pediatric Associates for your newborn's care, you'll be able to take advantage of this exciting new program. Shortly after your baby is born, a Healthy Steps Specialist will visit you at home to get acquainted with you and your baby and to discuss infant development and care.
How is Healthy Steps Different from Regular Pediatric Care?
First, the visit to your home by the Healthy Steps Specialist is very different. In addition, Healthy Steps emphasizes the physical, emotional, social and cognitive development of newborns using a highly thoughtful and systematic approach. Your baby's well child visits may include the usual physical exam with the pediatrician, and time with your Healthy Steps Specialist.
Through Healthy Steps, You Will be Provided With:
- Developmental Assessments
- Referral to parent resources in our community
- Child and Family Health Development Checkups
- Knowledge and Support
- Parent Resource Line
- Encouragement of early reading, including books for you to read to your child
- Special literature addressing your baby's development stages that you will recieve at various times as the baby grows
Breastfeeding Support:
Because breast milk is the Gold Standard of infant nutrition, we are committed to supporting families who choose to breast feed. We have on staff a full-time, board certified lactation consultant to help support the newborn and his or her family in this endeavor. Appointments with the lactation consultant are available in the office or at home for your convenience.

Lifetime Health Pediatric Associates welcomes patients with most major insurance coverage including: Blue Choice; BlueCross BlueShield plans; Viahealth plan; Preferred Care; Blue Choice Option/Medicaid; Preferred CareOption/Medicaid; Medicare; Child Health Plus; Valumed and able to bill most commercial carriers.
