History
Lifetime Health Medical Group has a rich history serving both the Rochester and Buffalo communities. Innovative from the start, Lifetime Health has pioneered new ways to deliver quality medical care for more than three decades. Click on the links below to find out more about our group's history in each region.
Buffalo History: Serving the Community for more than 30 Years
First known as Health Care Plan (HCP), Lifetime Health Medical Group was the first to bring the group model HMO and physician group practice-primary and specialty physicians with ancillary services in one location-to the Buffalo area. HCP opened its first Western New York heath center, West Seneca Health Center, in 1978, and as demand for comprehensive center-based care grew, more centers were opened throughout the area.
Lifetime Health became Lifetime Health Medical Group in August 2004. The name change is the result of patient and consumer survey studies that found existing patients and the public would better understand what the health centers are and do with the new name.
Today, the Buffalo-area Lifetime Health practices exist as a versatile primary care delivery system and welcome patients with Aetna, BlueCross BlueSheild of Western New York, Independent Health, Univera Healthcare, Fidelis, and all other major insurance plans. In addition to primary care and Urgent Care, the four Buffalo-area Lifetime Health practices provide onsite specialty services, including Pharmacy, X-Ray, Lab, Dental, Sports Medicine and more!
Rochester History: Serving the Community for more than 35 Years
Lifetime Health Medical Group has always been a leader in health care delivery. Founded as Group Health Medical Centers in 1973, we led the way in the evolution of both the group model HMO and the group practice of physicians with the opening of the Joseph C. Wilson Center at a time when group practice--primary and specialty physicians and ancillary services in one location--was new to Rochester.
Consumer demand for comprehensive center-based care resulted in the opening of three other practices: the Marion B. Folsom Center (located in the Brighton-Henrietta area), the Greece and Perinton Centers.
Today, Lifetime Health Medical Group also operates seven primary care practices throughout the Rochester area, including Artemis Health, an internal medicine practice designed for and staffed by women.
In the fall of 2004, we changed our name to Lifetime Health Medical Group. This change reflected our continued committment to providing our patients with easy access to quality health care.
Today, Lifetime Health Medical Group exists as a versatile, primary care delivery system and welcomes patients with all major insurance plans including Aetna, Blue Choice, Blue Choice Option/Medicaid, Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, Preferred Care, Medicare Parts A & B, and other plans offered by commercial carriers such as Metropolitan, and Union Local programs.
In addition to primary care, Lifetime Health Medical Group provides a variety of comprehensive health care services including Urgent Care, Pharmacy, Eye Care Services, an Optical Shop, POodiatry, and X-Ray services.
